Attractions

Feel the wing beats of time! Örebro?s majestic castle has dominated the town centre for over 700 years. Built by the royal Vasa family, the castle has provided the theatre for several turning points in Swedish history. Many actors have trod its stage builders, witches, prisoners of war, a number of Swedish kings and, so it is said, the odd ghost or two...

CHURCHES AND MUSEUMS
Our many churches are full of treasures. Tångeråsa has one of Sweden?s oldest, best preserved wooden churches. Ramundeboda church in Laxå and the churches in Glanshammar and Ödeby are amongst the finest. The church, park in the grounds of Boo Castle are particularly grand. The old mili-tary camp and manoeuvres area of Sanna-hed present another historic environment. Karlslund manor house in Örebro gives an excellent picture of 19th century life in such establishments.

APPRECIATE THE ART AND ARTISTS
Art and design are important. A variety of exhibitions, vibrant architecture from the 1950?s, beautiful murals, sculpture parks in different settings. We have all this and more. The over 100 metre high hill at Kvarntorp outside Kumla is home for an outdoor exhibition of sculptures. Visitors come here in their tens of thousands every year. In the forests outside Laxå, you can roam the Konst i ring (»Art circle«) trail and discover beautiful creations that have their roots in the local Tiveden area. Our art exhibitions are similarly numerous. One of them will probably never be seen anywhere else in the world Carl Larsson?s paintings at the home (Bergööska huset in Hallsberg) of his parents-in-law. He painted directly on the walls! The house also has works by his wife, Karin.
